It wasn’t real, but the tears were for some seniors at Espanola High School.
Grade 11 and 12 students watched a video that had been made a week earlier involving a scenario involving a young woman texting while driving.
Her inattention leads to her striking a cyclist, a fellow student and him dying of his injuries.
The scenes played at using real paramedics, emergency services at the local hospital, OPP and the funeral home.
As a realistic mock accident, it hit hard for some of the students.
It was all part of Safe Grad 2019 to encourage senior students to put away the phone when in a vehicle.
