Camping is more than just learning to swim, sit around a campfire and pitch a tent.
Shelagh Cole, a nurse from Nova Scotia says the life skills she learned at Tim Hortons Foundation Camp gave her the skills to survive the streets at the age of 16 like how portaging a canoe can change you.
She says the skills you acquire at camp ready you for real life skills and gives you the confidence to know ‘you can do it’ and ‘believe in yourself’.
Tim Hortons Camp Day is next Wednesday where all the money raised from selling coffee, washing cars and other activities will provide the funding to send two local children from each franchise area to camp this summer.
