Elliot Lake’s Centennial Arena may get another five years or so of life.
Alvin Olar of Tulloch Engineering made a presentation to Elliot Lake council on Monday night detailing three different options: replace and repair the deficiencies to allow the building to have another three to five years of life; replace the entire roof system at a cost of $5.3 million dollars, which would also extend the life of the building for another 20 years or so or option three; do nothing.
Council spent nearly an hour discussing the ins and outs of all the options, noting option one would allow for a full 2019 season for users, including the Junior A Wildcats.
In the end, council has asked for a detailed report on option one, which is expected to be presented to council by mid-June since time is of the essence.
