Work is underway on a new car wash in Espanola and with that comes legal approvals for site plans and zoning.
Espanola Deputy Mayor Bill Foster says the site plan for a new car wash being built by Ryan Bulloch is all in order, but did not agree with a part of the motion asking that the security deposit be waived.
He says it would set a precedent for other developments and if the project is not finished for whatever reason, the town has no recourse to recover possible costs associated with such a scenario.
The majority of his fellow councilors agreed with him and amended the motion to approve the site plan for the new business including a letter of security for $25,000.
Construction has begun and the new business is expected to be completed by early summer.
