Spanish Forest Open Houses

EACOM is hosting open houses for public review of the Spanish River 2020-2030 Forest Management Plan.

As the licensee for the Spanish Forest management unit, EACOM is responsible for managing all forestry activities including access, harvest renews and preparing plans.

Working with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and local citizen committees, the public open houses will review the ten-year plan.

The local session will be held at the Espanola Royal Canadian Legion Branch #39 next Wednesday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm with two other sessions also being held in Gogama and Chelmsford.

EACOM’s dedicated team of foresters and certification professionals ensure that forest resources are managed responsibly and that our practices maintain a balance of forest values, including water and soil quality, fish and wildlife habitat and biodiversity, as well as traditional and recreational use of forest territory.

As the licensee for the Spanish Forest management unit, EACOM is responsible to manage forestry activities: providing access, harvesting trees, renewing the forest, caring for the biodiversity and preparing plans to carry out forest management activities. This responsibility is overseen by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and regulated by both the Crown Forest Sustainability Act as well as the Environmental Assessment Act.

EACOM invites forest users, members of the public and organizations to participate in open houses. Set up as information centres, these sessions present an overview of the access, harvest, renewal and tending operations planned for the ten-year period and provide an opportunity for participants to meet planners and provide feedback on the plan:
