Water is the focus for students

Manitoulin Secondary School students took part in one of the school’s biggest water walk ever.

Students broke into two groups to travel from Misery Bay to Wiikwemikoong, close to 120-kilometre to raise awareness and funds in support of clean water initiatives worldwide this past Saturday.

The We Walk for Water initiative was so successful, it doubled its $1,000 goal.

And next Wednesday, other students in the Rainbow District School Board will focus on water as part of the International Day of Biological Diversity.

Students and staff can honour waterways by taking a Water Walk, adopting a local body of water and cleaning up its shoreline, even reading the book, The Water Walker by author Joanne Robertson.
