Needle program in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township

If anyone finds used needles, they are asked to call municipal services in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township rather than handle the material on their own.
Brady Ropp says the spring melt has revealed an increased number of needles leading to increased inspections of play spaces, arena grounds and other parks.

He adds if anyone comes across needles, they are asked to call the township, recreation or public works.

If someone has to dispose of a needle, do it safely and call the township for disposal.

Contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 705-865-2519, Public Works at 705-865-2358 or the Municipal Office 705-865-2646 and someone will be sent to safely dispose of used drug paraphernalia.

Although they do not recommend it, they understand someone may have to dispose of a needle, so please review the video on how to do it safely. Don’t throw paraphernalia out, but rather call for pick up and note the location, so the township can track potential trouble areas.

Massey’s Clean Sweep is on May 11. They will be watching for needles and avoiding them. Please come out and help clean up Massey with vests, gloves and bags supplied. Also complimentary lunch after. Meet us at St. Andrew’s United Church at 9:00 am.
