William Elliot presented with Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteerism

A well-known Elliot Lake man has been presented with one of the highest honours that can be presented by the Governor General of Canada.

Elliot Lake Mayor, Dan Marchisella, presented William Elliot with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, which recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians.

He also presented him with two certificates, one from the Governor General and the second, from the City of Elliot Lake.

Elliot is well known as ‘that ELNOS guy’, but also volunteered with several organizations over the last 20 years including ice fishing derbies, drag races and the food bank, among others.

Family and friends were also on hand for the presentation made by council on Tuesday night.
