Six more names will be added to the Miner’s Memorial Wall.
Elliot Lake council unanimously voted to have Sydney Craig, Horst Hermann Hartmann, John “Sean” McGlade, Norman Orser, William Addison White and Norman Whitehead names added to the wall.
Committee member, Councillor Ed Pearce says they represent the best of their profession.
The six will be honoured as part of the National Day of Mourning on April 28th.
City Council approved creation of a new statue to be installed at the south end of the Miner’s Memorial this year.
The new statue, The Prospector, is being created by Merrickville, Ontario-based sculptor Laura Brown Breetvelt, an Elliot Lake native, who crafted the other miner statuary already located onsite along the shores of Horne Lake.
