What would you do if you were out in the bush, the sun is going down and it is the middle of winter?
Students at Espanola High found out a little but about what it takes to survive in the wild in late February.
Dean Riggs at Espanola High says they took part in the Survive the Ride annual program implemented by the Espanola and Area Safety Coalition.
The class had some in-class instruction led by the North Shore Search & Rescue Unit followed by a trip out to Black Creek where they were joined by representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources, emergency services and OPP.
Students found out how to prevent hypothermia, build a fire, and other safety measures.
