AJ comes home … for the second time

Espanola newborn, Alexander Junior Sheppard, AJ for short, has returned home for the second time.

The preemie was born two and a half months early on January 15th and has spent the last two months in the Sudbury NEO hospital unit, gaining weight.

Last Friday, he came home, but a few hours later, he stopped breathing and his father, Alex, had to perform chest compressions.

Mother, Avery Laurin, says he was rushed back to hospital and and doctors are optimistic he will be fine, although there will be ongoing medical check-ups to ensure he is growing and is healthy.

Avery adds he came home yesterday and they really appreciate the support they have received from the wider community.
