New solar panels going on line at school in Spanish

A school in Spanish is looking at reducing its carbon footprint by producing its own electricity.

Communication director, Brigitte Morin, says the new solar powered system at École Ste-Anne in Spanish will start producing electricity for the school in the coming weeks.
The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario constructed the ground system last summer.

She adds once the 160-kilowatt system is up and running, the school will be on a net-metered service which means it will produce all the electricity it needs to operate.
Morin says the project aligns with the board’s commitment to the sustainable management of their buildings and the reduction of their carbon footprint.

The system set up at École Ste-Anne has been registered with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.

Soon after the activation of the solar panels, the Board will publish a detailed description of the project to highlight some of its many advantages.
