Area highways re-open

All area highways affected by the weather or motor vehicle collisions have re-opened.  The closures started on Highway 69 by Point Au Baril when an accident closed the highway around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.    Fortunately the highway re-opened less than two hours later.  But closures caused by the weather were much longer.  At 1:00 p.m. OPP closed Highway 17 from Batchewana to Wawa for the third time this week.  It only re-opened at 4:30 Friday.  And Highway 101 from Wawa to Chapleau was closed for five hours Thursday because of snow.  It opened up again at around 9:30 Thursday night.
