Fraud seminar for seniors in Espanola

According to a local OPP officer, there have been many seniors in the local area who have been defrauded, and in some cases, of all their savings.

Espanola OPP Community Services Officer, Marie Ford, says some local seniors have been scammed for literally thousands of dollars and she wants to help seniors protect themselves.

To that end, she has teamed up with the Espanola Royal Canadian Legion Branch #39 to host an evening presentation for a seminar focusing on people over 60 years of age and the possible scams they can be subjected to.

Ford will be make presentation and will also be joined by Canadian Anti-fraud Centre’s Senior Support Unit Volunteer – Ormond Carnegie (OR-MOND CAR-KNAW-GEE)

The two-hour seminar will be held on March 21st at 7:00pm.

It is free and refreshments will be provided.
