Pink Shirt Day

School children are encouraged to wear pink today to discourage bullying.

Today marks the founding of Pink Shirt Day and students, staff and supporters will be in the pink.

The original event was organized by David Shepherd and Travis Price of Berwick, Nova Scotia, who in 2007 bought and distributed 50 pink shirts after ninth grade student Chuck McNeill was bullied for wearing a pink shirt during the first day of school.

It has grown to include schools and anti-bullying organizations in 180 countries.
