The Conservative MP for Nipissing – Timiskaming is offering a twist on why New Democrat Glenn Thibeault defected to the provincial Liberals. Jay Aspin believes it was getting harder for Thibeault to keep working with the NDP. Aspin adds leader Thomas Mulcair didn’t make life any easier for him when he talked about re-introducing the gun registry. Aspin says northerners never liked the gun registry as he found out when he ran for office three years ago. Meanwhile, Aspin doesn’t know if voters will support Thibeault running for the provincial Liberals in a Sudbury by-election and doesn’t know whether high-ranking Liberals offered an alleged bribe to clear the way for him to run. But Aspin, a Tory, has respect for the work he’s done in Sudbury.
