If you are planning to travel along Highway 17 this weekend, you might find yourself in the middle of a convoy.
A fleet of frustrated Westerners will roll through the region this weekend en route to the nation’s capital.
The United We Roll convoy, featuring about 300 trucks, is departing Red Deer, Alberta today and will be travelling along Highway 17 through our local area on their way to Ottawa.
The goal is to reach Ottawa by February 19, where speeches and a rally are planned for Parliament Hill.
Convoy participants are fed up with the slow pace of pipeline development and feel the federally imposed carbon tax will only cause more economic pain for an already struggling region.
