Up until now, the city has relied on Robert Swayze from southern Ontario at a rate of $382 an hour to investigate Integrity Commissioner’ complaints. City CAO Dan Gagnon’s recommendation that the city sign on with E4M Solutions of Sault Ste. Marie at $150 an hour for conflict of interest concerns and lawyer Tony Fleming of Kingston for integrity matters at $295 per hour was accepted. The new Conflict of Interest Act comes into effect on March 1st, so the recommendation will come into play on that date.
