The new groomer for the City of Elliot Lake has arrived and city council unanimously agreed to purchase it through city reserves.

City CAO Dan Gagnon told council at an emergency meeting yesterday morning that by purchasing the groomer outright and making a payment agreement with the Mount Dufour Ski Club, there would be savings of $78,000 over five years.

The new groomer costs around $400,000, but the city will see savings since it will get back the GST.

Deciding what reserves will be used for the purchase will be part of the 2019 budget process.
