Police lock up intoxicated man but not before trying to help him

An Elliot Lake man is charged with being intoxicated in a public place after getting into an altercation with police at the OPP office in Elliot Lake.

The 54-year-old was found wandering in the cold in a confused and drunken state when someone dropped him off at the detachment building.

That was Saturday night.

When police tried to find a place for the man overnight, he became belligerent and uncooperative.

That’s when he was put behind bars until he sobered up the next day.
