LHIN’s special advisory group accomplished a lot this year

A special advisory committee under the North East Local Health Integration Network accomplished a lot this year.

Those accomplishments include sharing patient stories with the LHIN to identify the system’s strengths and where improvements can take place.

The group is known as the Patient and Family Advisory Committee and is made up of residents from across Northeastern Ontario.

It meets four times a year and the next get together January 28th.

Some of its other accomplishments are addressing personal support worker capacity issues and providing input on the province’s dementia strategy program.

The committee also advises the LHIN on how to make the health care system more people oriented and provided input into the development of a rural alternate level of care avoidance framework.

The committee is chaired by Marie Murphy-Foran of Elliot Lake.
