Five Cambrian College alumni nominees at the Premier’s Awards

One of five Cambrian College alumni nominated at the Premier’s Awards is a Manitoulin Island nurse.

Julia Fedec is currently a nursing manager at the Manitoulin Health Centre.

She has worked as a nurse around the world including India, Tanzania and South Sudan developing expertise in tropical disease.

Fedec joined four other alumni nominated Monday at the Colleges Ontario Higher Education Summit in Toronto.
And, although they did not win, the Premier’s Award recognize outstanding contributions to society from graduates of Ontario colleges.

Besides Fedec, Cambrian’s nominees this year included: C.B. Forrest (Journalism, 1992). Forrest is the Global Director of Public Relations for AdFarm. His work with the concept of “social friction” is helping renewable energy companies rethink how they communicate; Gianni Grossi (Mining Engineering Technology, 1999). Grossi is the President of Anmar, a fabrication company with worldwide operations that is helping the mining industry be more efficient and environmentally-conscious; Colette Lepage (Chemical Engineering Technology, 1994). Lepage works for the North American Space Agency (NASA). She has managed the cleaning and decontamination process for numerous space missions and; Cory Morel (Business, 2004). Morel is a partner in the Morel Group of Companies, a leader in providing health plans and benefits to postsecondary students. Morel co-founded the Morel Family Foundation, to help children and youth facing hardship.
