Elliot Lake council will not forgive at loan to the Elliot Lake Wildcats.
The Wildcats have paid back just over $43,000 of a $93,000 loan to the city, which was to be paid off by the end of this year.
Wildcats Board Chair Brad Lees asked for forgiveness of the loan, but council is adamant that it must be paid back since it is taxpayers’ money.
Council did speak in favour of accepting a re-payment agreement that would see the principal repaid to the city by the end of the term of the next council in 2022 and have sent that recommendation to the finance committee for review.
