The majority of Elliot Lake council support the concept of T.V. bingo, but are grappling with how to financially back the program.
Sue Jarmovitch, president of the Elliot Lake Charity Bingo Association, asked council Monday night for access to city hall on Sundays and for up to $7,700 in financing supports for the required equipment and related costs.
Jamovitch says the collective is made up of some 20 charities that pool their revenue and, in turn, give it back to the community.
She says the charities have run bingos for a while, but the revenue is not there and T.V. bingo can be lucrative.
Council decided to defer the decision until city staff can make recommendations about staffing, location and cost.
