New Espanola council to deal with Integrity Commissioner’s Report

Espanola’s new council will be dealing with the Integrity Commissioner’s Report.

Espanola council held a special closed meeting on Monday, November 12th and decided to defer the motion in regards to imposing sanctions on four councilors to the next council.

The Integrity Commissioner Shearer Parnega recommended four councillors: Ron Duplessis, Ken Duplessis, Heather Mallott and Ray Dufour, lose a portion of their stipends for what she deemed abusive and intimidating behavior.

Following Monday’s meeting, council met for the regular meeting on Tuesday, November 13th and voted to rescind the motion to adopt what they called ‘Council’s New Vision’, a plan to improve relations between council and staff.

They also made a motion to defer the plan to the new council for review.
