The Manitoulin-Espanola OPP is urging all motorists not to veer for deer.

The OPP is reminding the motoring public to be alert and aware of their surroundings since deer are on the move to their winter feeding grounds.

Manitoulin-Espanola OPP Constable Marie Ford says the office has investigated multiple collisions involving deer over the past several weeks.

She says deer-vehicle collision rates increase significantly 1.5 hours on either side of sunset and sunrise. And, she adds, although there is often signage to warn motorists of higher deer-travelled areas, motorists need to be aware in all areas.
