Municipal crews will be closing public access to the new Elliot Lake boardwalk in the coming days.
Elliot Lake CAO, Dan Gagnon, says while the boardwalks remain in place during the winter months, the composite decking becomes slippery and hazardous in below zero temperatures, so the site must be secured and prepped for the winter to protect it from damage.
He adds the public is asked to refrain for accessing the boardwalks until reopened next spring.
