Espanola Police Arbitration settlement

An arbitrator has settled contract and severance packages for former members of the Espanola Police Service Association.

Espanola Police Service Board Chair, Mary-Lou Mick, says the arbitrator has ordered the board to increase the severance from four weeks to five weeks for every year of service by a former member of the service who have not been hired by the Ontario Provincial Police.

She adds, the arbitrator also awarded a 1.7% increase in wages for 2017 and 2018 and letters of employment for all members.

Association president, Ed Stortz, says only four officers have been hired by the OPP.
