Espanola ratepayers get a last chance to talk to candidates

Park development, saving AB Ellis Public School and the switch to OPP were all part of a meet the candidates night hosted by the Espanola Royal Canadian Legion.
Saving the school also came up, but the candidates made it clear the town does not own the property, so the issue will have to be dealt with through the board.
Most of the questions to municipal candidates centred around the transition to OPP, what the real costs and savings would be and why no referendum was held on changing from municipal to provincial policing.
There is also a push to see special needs met when it comes to park development and all candidates agreed it should be looked into by the new recreation committee.
