FONOM to participate in Ontario’s Provincial Forestry Strategy

The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) will be taking part in the Ontario government’s plan to develop a provincial forestry strategy to create an environment that supports growth and competition.

The Ford government announced on Monday it will be holding nine roundtable sessions beginning in November in Sault Ste. Marie, to get input from the forest industry, municipal leaders and Indigenous communities.

Former FONOM President, Kapuskasing Mayor, Al Spacek, will represent the federation throughout the consultation process.

Forestry is the backbone of many communities across the North and ensuring the sector remains competitive by reducing red tape is to the advantage of all Ontarians.
