Espanola Council addresses taxi company’s concerns

Taxis will have a designated parking spot at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex.

A local taxi company owner asked for the review after getting a ticket for leaving a vehicle running in front of the entrance while he had gone inside.

The Community Services Committee recommended to council a designated parking spot be set up in the parking lot specifically for taxis.

Councillor Ron Duplessis felt a spot could be located at the front and suggested imposing a time limit of ten minutes.
However, Mayor Ron Piche pointed out there was some safety concerns with that, especially with how much room buses can take up in the loading zone.

Council supported the motion from the sub-committee and the new parking space will be marked out for taxis closest to the complex entrance.
