North Shore recovering from wind storm

The North Shore corridor, Espanola and Manitoulin Island areas are recovering from the fierce wind storm, which swept through the area Friday afternoon.

Thousands of hydro customers were out of power for most of the weekend, but the Hydro One Storm Centre is now reporting that electricity has been restored throughout the region.

Trees were downed as well as damage to roofs and shingles and other property.

No one was reported injured by police.

Still with the story, the Red Cross has set up a relief fund for storm victims in the Ottawa and Gatineau area, which was hit by tornadoes as the system moved east through Northern Ontario.
