With a municipal election around the corner, the current Blind River council wants to ensure whoever is elected has the proper training to do the job.
Council voted to endorse an amendment to the town’s bylaw this past Monday, which deals with remuneration and training of elected officials.
The amendment requires people elected to council to be trained about their responsibilities within six months of taking office.
Otherwise, they could lose some remuneration.
The new council will be sworn and take over on December 1st.
