Violent incident in Manitoulin Island draws Chief’s attention – rally Thursday morning

Anishnawbek Nation Grand Council Chief Glen Hare will be attending a rally Thursday morning at the M’Chigeeng First Nation Administration Office following a brawl at Manitoulin Secondary School.

Hare says he was deeply disturbed after learning of the violent incident that occurred at the high school that had racial overtones.
Hare adds he is still in disbelief that First Nation students are still the target for racism and violence while attending school in this day and age and that is unacceptable.

He pointed out the brawl resulted in charges being laid solely against First Nation students by the Ontario Provincial Police.

The rally is at 9:30am.

Meanwhile, the police are continuing the investigation and have stated more charges are likely.
