Canada’s longest serving mayor, Austin Hunt, to be feted upon retirement

Canada’s longest serving mayor is about to retire.

A celebration of a Manitoulin Island mayor, Austin Hunt’s, 50+years of public service will take place Sunday, October 7th in his hometown of Kagawong.

A public meet and greet will take place between 2:00pmto 4:00pm at the Park Centre upstairs with the presentation of formal speeches.

Austin Hunt has devoted his life to his township and also worked for former Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson as his official agent for Algoma East.
