Arrest made in gas station theft and robbery in Elliot Lake

East Algoma OPP have charged an Elliot Lake man who first robbed the gas station on Highway 108 of cash and then stole gas from the outlet on Hillside Drive South.

Police say a man in a pick-up truck went into the highway gas bar and threatened the employee with a knife.

He left with cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets just before 1:00am Tuesday.

Later the same day, around 6:30pm, the gas station on Hillside Drive South reported someone stole its gas.

After getting a description of the vehicle, police learned it was the same one involved in the robbery.

Police also had a license plate number and with that they tracked down the owner.

They’ve charged a 25-year-old man with robbery with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and theft under five thousand dollars.
