Fire ban ends in Huron Shores

After seven weeks of being in place, the fire ban has finally ended for the Municipality of Huron Shores, one of the first communities to impose a ban an open burning in the area.

The local fire department issued the ban back on July 6th because the area was experiencing very dry conditions.

A short time later that was followed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry declaring the northeast a Restricted Fire Zone as it fought dozens of wildfires.

When the ministry’s restriction ended late last week, it gave municipalities the discretion to start lifting their bans on open burning and that’s what communities have been doing including Espanola which ended its ban several days ago.
