Elliot Lake woman charged after lying to police

An Elliot Lake woman who made rude comments and gestures with some swearing thrown in, has been charged by the East Algoma OPP.

However police didn’t charge the 55-year-old for the swearing or gestures.

Rather, the charges are in connection with the woman giving police a different last name and a date birth date.

When officers first responded to a female neighbour complaining about the swearing and the gestures, police simply cautioned both women and told them to leave each other alone.

Police got everyone’s names and then learned that the woman connected with the swearing had lied to them.

She’s now charged with mischief and perjury.
