All four victims in Wawa-area collision were from Manitoba and Alberta

The four people killed near Wawa after two vehicles collided Sunday night were all from Western Canada.

OPP say two people in a southbound vehicle died at the scene when they hit a moose, crossed the highway and crashed into a northbound vehicle.

The victims in the southbound vehicle were a 45-year-old man and 14-year-old boy.

A 51-year-old woman and nine-year-old girl, both from Winnipeg and in the other vehicle, died in hospital.

Five other people in both vehicles were injured and OPP are continuing their investigation.

The Sunday night crash closed the Trans-Canada Highway in both directions until 1:00pm Monday.
