Laurentian University professor to experience once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

A science professor at Laurentian University has a big opportunity.

Doctor Tammy Eger is one of four Canadian women picked to take part in an international leadership program for women dealing with various sciences.

Eger will join nearly 100 women from 28 countries for one year which includes studies in science, technology, engineering, math and medicine.

She and her student colleagues are part of the Homeward Bound program to increase the number of international female researchers.

Right now less than a third of the world’s researchers are women.

The 12-month program will also take Eger and the other researchers to Antarctica to study polar science and climate change.

Eger is Professor of Human Kinetics at Laurentian and the Research Chair at the Centre for Research in Occupational Safety and Health.
