Superior Court Justice Patricia Hennessy has reserved her sentencing decision for convicted pedophile Paul McColeman of Espanola.
Assistant Crown attorney Kara Vakiparta (VAK-I-PART-AH) says the Crown is seeking a minimum 20-year prison sentence with a number of conditions including registration on the Sex Offender’s Registry and a DNA sample.
The defence is seeking 12 to 13 years minus pre-custody credit and no restrictions when paroled.
The results of the court appointed psychiatric assessment conducted by Dr. Philip Klassen revealed McColeman has been diagnosed as a same sex pedophile.
The 45-year-old was convicted of 34 sex-related and luring charges involving several young boys in Espanola.
A date for Justice Hennessey’s decision will be set in assignment court July 6.
