Sudbury Region Police Museum Room Naming Ceremony

The late Staff Inspector Robert D. Cowley will be acknowledged at the Sudbury Region Police Museum Room Naming Ceremony at police headquarters.

Cowley’s dedication will be acknowledged with the naming of the museum this afternoon.

Cowley grew up in Toronto and came to Sudbury in 1952 to begin his life with his new wife Julia.

There he began his policing career retiring in 1987 after 35 years of service, having attained the rank of Staff Inspector.

He then went on to teach Law and Security at Cambrian College for five years.

The museum dedicated to police officers in Sudbury was established thanks to his efforts, his partner, Emile Lavigne, and fellow retirees.

Cowley passed away in 2009.

Police brass and his daughter, Jennifer Weber, will take part in the unveiling of the room at 4:00pm followed by tours of the museum.
