Elliot Lake and Serpent River symbolize new relationship with flag raising

The City of Elliot Lake and Serpent River First Nation will host meetings in the near future to discuss a new relationship for equitable development.

Yesterday afternoon, Mayor Dan Marchisella joined Serpent River Chief Elaine Johnston in raising the First Nation flag at the Miners Monument, a symbol of the new working relationship the two parties hope to develop over the next few years.

It’s also a part of the city’s new focus to acknowledge the traditional territory and National Indigenous Peoples Day 2018.
