A park in Elliot Lake will be upgraded to include equipment for people with special needs.

Mayor Dan Marchisella says council has given thumbs up to having this park as an addition to the playground at Westview Park.

A sub-committee of the Accessibility Advisory committee in Elliot Lake has been working on bringing in sensory equipment for children with disabilities.

He says Phase one will include an Accessibility Seat Swing, OmniSpin, Chimes and Drums.

Marchisella says the committee is looking for local support for phase two, so anyone wishing to donate can deliver cheques care of ELNOS, Autism Park Fund.
He adds the project is an amazing community initiative which will ensure all children have a place to play.
