A Racquet of a Celebration Planned at Espanola Tennis Courts

Tennis enthusiasts Don and Daphne Allen moved to Espanola from Elliot Lake 13 years ago and shared their love of the game by offering free tennis lessons.

Don Allen passed away this year, but his volunteer legacy lives on.

Their son, Dave, inherited his parent’s love of the game and became a professional tennis player who passed away last spring.

Daphne has donated memorial shade benches for the tennis courts as a tribute to both her husband and son.

The memorial benches will be unveiled at a Tennis & Tea celebration in honour of the Allen family and Daphne’s loved ones on Sunday, June 3rd at the tennis courts from 2:00-4:00pm.
The celebration will also mark the opening of Espanola’s new pickle ball courts.
Pickle ball is the largest growing racquet sport in North America.
