OPP Request Public Help in Animal Cruelty Case

An abandoned plastic tote filled with cats and kittens is the focus of an animal cruelty case in Elliot Lake.

East Algoma OPP say on Tuesday a citizen found numerous cats and kittens inside a plastic tote bin left beside a dumpster on Stanrock Road with a note saying ‘help us’.

There were eleven cats – four adult cats and seven kittens – one adult already deceased and numerous others dying later despite veterinarian care.

OPP units and the Sault Ste. Marie Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) are assisting with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call OPP or Crime Stoppers.
