Around 100 people attended celebrations the platinum 70-year anniversary of the Espanola Lions Club.
Lion member, Grant Lewis, says the event held last Saturday was to celebrate their Charter and Awards Night, as well as to present 15 organizations, including Moose 99.3FM CJJM, with commemorative certificates for their support of Lionism over the years.
Lewis says over the decades the club has provided over $4.2 million dollars to various causes.
Lewis adds Lion Dario Laurenti who has served for almost 30 years was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, named for the founding father of Lionism.
