Sudbury, North Bay hospital staff joins province-wide rallies

Sudbury, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Timiskaming and other northeastern Ontario communities will see hospital workers demonstrating along with their counterparts at hospitals across the province.

The rallies, which take place at noon today, are the second in a series of escalating actions 75,000 hospital workers, who are without a contract, are taking part in this April.
An alliance representing hospital staff at more than 100 hospitals province-wide from The Canadian Union of Public Employees, SEIU Healthcare and Unifor are seeking a fair contract without concessions.

They are optimistic that a new deal be achieved this coming weekend with the resumption of negotiations.

For CUPE, it is the first time back at the bargaining table since contract talks broke off in September 2017.
