Madahbee outraged by Pope Francis’ letter

Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief Patrick Madahbee who hails from Manitoulin Island says he will no longer be going to church until the Vatican apologizes to residential school survivors and their families.

Madahbee says the national chiefs will continue to push for the apology, but he admits he is angry and will also take his own personal stance.

He says he will never step into another Catholic church until the apology is forthcoming.

Admitting he doesn’t go every week, he was raised Cartholic and is very disappointed by the Pope’s response.

Last week, Pope Francis stated that he cannot personally issue an apology to residential school survivors and their families for the role the Roman Catholic Church played in the operation of the schools and abuses inflicted upon students.
