People needing end of life care will have a new alternative at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elliot Lake.
The hospital opened its new hospice suite last week on the third floor of the hospital where palliative patients and their families will get the privacy and services they need.
It includes a bedroom with patient lift, living room and kitchenette.
It also includes amenities such as a recliner and television, and also has room for family or friends to stay and/or visit.
A donation of $23,000 from local resident Brian Greenway helped furnish the two rooms.
It took about six months to complete the suite at a cost of around $150,000.
